it isn't often that a video game is so vivid, so involving...so enveloping, that it is looked on as a possible movie franchise on all those merits. usually, just the action doom, final fantasy, or just the body lara croft...tomb raider or just some other one aspect makes for a great game, but an underwhelming movie. i had the pleasure of watching this movie in an early screening on monday night, and it is definitely a step above and beyond the aforementioned videogames-turned-movies. the hallmark from the very beginning of the prince of persia franchise a primitive dos programmed, side-scrolling adventure through a castle to rescue a locked-up princess was not only having a great story, but telling it in such a way to keep the player in that world. this film, surprisingly enough, doesn't play out quite as closely to the video games as i had expected. still, without spoiling either the games or this movie, i can say that it shows jordan mechner had full involvement in the movie. many storytelling elements present in the "prince of peria: the sands of time" video game can be found here, and made for a very entertaining romp through the vast lands of persia. i would say that my main gripe is the under-use of parkour, the running fighting style the prince deploys in the video games. this is a hard gripe to substantiate though, because of how difficult parkour is to execute, let alone master, nonetheless i had expected something resembling the wall-running, banner ltbgt...lt bgt

movie scenes circa 1953 the twonky is stranger than strange. a comedy-science fiction movie written by novelist henry kuttner and directed by one-time radio tyro arch oboler, it features hans conried as a college professor whose life is turned upside down by a television set that has developed a personality of its own, and seems determined to take over conried's as well. part of the fun is watching the star grapple this may not be quite the right word with his material in what may well be his only starring film role. i loved hans conried when i was growing up. he was a one of a kind performer who never got really well cast in movies or on television, though he had a successful stage and radio career. conried was at once child-like and supercilious, and he had a vaguely european demeanor and sensibility, though he was in fact american-born. there was a refined, aristocratic quality to him, and he had impeccable timing. he was hammy and ironic at the same time, and he had a way of letting you knew that he knew that you got it.

this project is the result of the first ignment of communications technology 30 grade 12. a contest, called doritos® viralocity, arose in early 2010 that had a grand prize of s250000. the rules were that you had to create a video less than one minute in length and featured soundtracks only provided by doritos® canada. we saw the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone at this point, as we had to create a project for school and also a contest entry. on my previous trip out to los angeles to visit disneyland, we stopped off at an authentic movie costume replica shop in hollywood, california. i ended up purchasing the complete indiana jones raiders of the lost ark - the first indy film version and used it afterward at various costume parties and halloween events. i saw the perfect time to don the clic leather jacket and fedora yet again when this contest arose. after a few weeks of preproduction, i gathered a small production team and we shot this short commercial in the main office of our high school after school operating hours. we managed to complete all our shots in two separate sessions. although we only won some secondary prizes in the contest, our whole team is extremely proud of their work. get ready for adventure, don your fedora, leather jacket, and don't forget your bullwhip doritos® discovery is a flavor that once you taste it, you'll swear you've been whipped with wasabi ©2010 wdwremaker productions
