online magazine informationweek reported tuesday that xerox nyse:xrx has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against yahoo nasdaq:yhoo, google nasdaq:goog and google's youtube video site over disputed internet search and e-commerce technology. xerox alleges that google's adwords and adsense software infringe on its patent "system for automatically generating queries." in addition, xerox claims google maps and google video violate a different patent regarding the updating of web pages based on user reviews. yahoo is alleged to have infringed on the company's query patent with yahoo search marketing, yahoo publisher network and yq contextual search. google's senior litigation counsel, in an email to informationweek, said: "these claims are entirely without merit, and we'll vigorously defend ourselves against them." yahoo didn't immediately respond to the magazine's requests for comment.
