the gulf of mexico oil spill may very well be the worst in u.s. history and president barack obama told nbc's matt lauer that he is responding to the spill in full force. he even got away with saying "" on live tv without anyone so much as batting an eye. bp's gross inadequacy at capping the leak is becoming most taxing, but even a kindergartener knows that when you resort to name calling and "-kicking" it's because you've got no other play left. whether the president knows it or not he's as helpless as one of those oil soaked animals washing up on gulf coast beaches.

as more information comes to light about the gulf of mexico oil spill, another environmental disaster involving oil is emerging. the niger delta receives more oil every year than all the oil spilled into the gulf of mexico so far. to make matters worse, no one even knows it's happening. nigeria is now calling for international law to step in and help them.

nigeria's oil pipes are over 40 years old, corroded, and unreliable. drinking wells are polluted. wildlife has been decimated and the people are dying. another source of leaks is from aggressive rebels attacking oil companies pipelines.

texan natural gas explosion
a natural gas line about 50 miles southwest of dallas, texas exploded yesterday. a utility crew struck the gas line causing the initial explosion. one person was killed and several were injured. the fireball burned for two hours after the gas was turned off.
