youtube friday, april 13 2007 welsh conservatives have highlighted policies to cut supermarket packaging and recycle at least 40 per cent of domestic waste by 2011. the party is also proposing to set a renewable energy target of 15 per cent to be achieved by 2015, with financial support for projects which harness energy from sources such as tidal power and bio-fuels. energy efficiency targets will also be set for the public sector, while business users will also be given grant support for micro and community generation schemes as part of welsh conservative plans to reform business rates. welsh conservatives highlighted the policies on a day of campaigning dedicated to the environment. one of the campaign visits is to newport wastesavers which is one of the largest community projects in wales dedicated to material re-use and recycling. welsh conservatives are also visiting the eco-building in cwmbran which was developed to improve environmental management on industrial estates. the partys manifesto commitments on the environment include: - using the emblys new powers to introduce an embly measure on renewable energy and energy efficiency - set a renewable energy target of 15 by 2015 - allow grant funding for renewable energy projects - recycling at least 40 per cent of domestic waste by 2011 - ensure less waste that cannot be recycled goes to landfill sites - introduce a code of practice to encourage supermarkets to cut the amount of packaging they use ltbgt...lt bgt
