the leopard gecko program, currently in 60 tdsb schools, is run in partnership with reptilia. male and female geckos are sent out to schools from the science and technology resource centre. after the pair mates and lays eggs, the baby geckos are raised by students from grades 1 to 8. the program provides a hands-on learning opportunity integrated into several areas of the curriculum including science life systems k-8, mathematics, language and dramatic arts. the reach of the reptilia gecko program extends far beyond the curriculum expectations as students take responsibility for caring for geckos in their clroom.
