this is my fourth rough cut of a bit of the heiress william wyler movie from 1949 that i produced and directed for city college directing cl cine131 caroline blair instructor. i will be adding more refined versions to youtube as i continue to edit the video. this is my first true directing experience. this was shot out of order and i forgot to shoot one scene so have tried to edit around that. this version of the heiress was filmed in an 1880 san francisco victorian mansion and is based on the henry james novel washington square which is based on the famous square in new york city. in the original movie, montgomery clift and olivia dehaviland starred. academy awards: 8 nominations - 4 wins: best actress in a leading role olivia de havilland best art direction-set decoration, black-and-white best music, scoring of a dramatic or comedy picture aaron copland best costume design, black-and-white edith head amp gile steele. thanks to the great dickens christmas fair for the costume of miss sloper. copyright 2009-2010
