transcript by newsy former speaker of the house nancy pelosi has gone from a leader of the majority to the minority leader. and while some question the wisdom of the democratic leadership holding others say, it's really not a surprise. politico's white house correspondent mike allen says four factors led to pelosi's re-election. "math the speaker has a lock on california, on women, on progressives. fear she's still going to control committees, staff, space, a lot less of it, but she's still going to be in charge. talent democrats tell me there's no one better to lead them out of the wilderness, no one better to keep the caucus together in tough times...the final factor that they mentioned is obama this is a way for democrats to say to the president, 'we stand with speaker pelosi.'" the new york times' nate silver says those are all good ideas but it certainly wasn't pelosi's popularity with the public that kept her in a top spot.
