as more information comes to light about the gulf of mexico oil spill, another environmental disaster involving oil is emerging. the niger delta receives more oil every year than all the oil spilled into the gulf of mexico so far. to make matters worse, no one even knows it's happening. nigeria is now calling for international law to step in and help them.

texan natural gas explosion
a natural gas line about 50 miles southwest of dallas, texas exploded yesterday. a utility crew struck the gas line causing the initial explosion. one person was killed and several were injured. the fireball burned for two hours after the gas was turned off.

"when hearing just the roar of the crowd when they announce your name, for your compeion. that's something i'll never forget. i was shaking and smiling all at the same time and just all the pride you feel to see all the american flags waving around. it was surreal," says olympian lauren cholewinski. "it was just one of the best moments i've ever had in my life and that is something i will never ever forget." to get there she started at kate's skate on celanese road. lauren's track coach at sullivan middle school and her in-line speed skating coach at kate's both remember what kind of compeor she was. "she was tough. fast. ruged. wasn't scared to get in there and throw a p and hope she didn't fall. a lot of kids would hold back on a p, she wouldn't," said coach donnie allen.
