featuring froese, noh mercy, manuel ggttsching, sir john johns part 3 in a 6 part series that aims to burst musical lead balloons by carrying a basketful of liberated ears in a bacofoil rocket towards a sonic nebula got it video 1 - ashra: "pas de trois" krautrock berlin school ambient house prog electronic disco correlations 1979 running from 0m28s onwards after losing herr schulze and the word temple manuel gottsching spent the 70s-80s making hugely influential solo albums as well as releases for rude under the ash ra handle. rather than a 'pas de trois', this track is a veritable cerole of clashing styles - groovy rock - dreamy, spacey psyche - chugging motorik - coked up disco... it's incredible to think that the same manuel gottsching who started off in the early, dark 'black hole' tangerine dream, could end up giving birth to such a bright musical sun as this... more on froese later - and onto the astrologically themed video from a 70s bbc science show that managed to make a fascinating 'correlation' between birth sign amp chosen profession. the graphics have been sped up considerably to ride aside this restless, searching yet celebratory track from a 1979 lp guaranteed to wear down soles on dance shoes. correlations has a lush production and demonstrates the skills of one of the finest guitar players of his generation... plus it has a rude-funny cover which might be my favourite work by hipgnosis video 2 noh mercy: "revolutionary spy" post punk ltbgt...lt bgt
